Therapeutic Approach

We work primarily from the following therapeutic approaches. However, we strongly believe in tailoring the approach to the client, and will adapt the approach to meet your needs. If  you have a preference for a particular approach, please let your psychologist know.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy​ (CBT) focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  This is a highly effective approach for a wide range of conditions.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on values and living a full and meaningful life.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focuses on managing strong emotions and improving relationships.

Schema Focused Therapy

Schema Focused Therapy works on identifying and resolving unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving that were learnt in childhood.


All information collected by us about your situation will be kept private and confidential.  However, if you are referred by a GP, we will need to provide the GP with updates and feedback about your progress.  We will discuss with you what feedback is included.

We will not share your information with any other parties unless we have your explicit consent to do so.  There are some exceptional circumstances where we may need to provide information to third parties without your consent.  These include imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, risk of harm to children, and where required by law.  We will discuss confidentiality with you at the first session.  Please ask if you have any questions.


You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, if you are referred under a Mental Health Care Plan by your GP, you will be eligible for a rebate from Medicare which will cover a substantial portion of the cost. Bring your Medicare card so that the rebate can be refunded by Medicare at the time of payment.


We aim to keep fees to a reasonable level and offer a discount to concession card holders.  If you are referred under a Mental Health Care Plan by your GP, you can claim a rebate back from Medicare.  Payment is required at time of consultation, by EFTPOS, cash or credit.  Please bring your Medicare card to the session. Clients referred under Worker’s Compensation, Victims Support Services or VVCS will not be charged. Please contact us if you are unsure of the fee applicable to you.
